New Moo Business cards, stickers and ShowCase card holder – Review

The Moo company produces many different products, from stickers and business cards to postcards and labels. Their unique approach to allowing the individual to design each and every card has proven to be a roaring success. I have bought products from Moo in the past, mainly their ‘Minicards’ and stickers. I decided to order some new cards and stickers for Foot Lambert, using some of the photography I have taken this year.

The products

I ordered 100 of the Moo Business Cards, a card holder and a set of stickers. Moo kindly provides templates for all of their products, so creating the artwork for the cards was fairly simple. I used Photoshop to put together the images and card design, and it was simply a case of uploading these to their site once they had been saved as JPEGs. I did have a small problem with the text side, as these layers need to be converted to shapes rather than left as fonts. Luckily, the site explains how to do this.

Designs for the stickers were done in the same way, and I used the ‘FL’ lettering on a dark blue background for these products. The templates contain trim guides and a safe area so that you can make sure your design isn’t cut off at the edges.

Delivery

I used the standard delivery for my products, and they took around a week to come. The packaging of each product is excellent, and a lot of attention to detail has gone in to the design. The card holder was in a small cardboard box, and was also wrapped in tissue paper. This gave a great tactile feel to the product, and really showcases (no pun intended) how serious Moo are about presentation.

The Foot Lambert Moo Business Cards

The business cards came out brilliantly, with the paper stock having a soft but strong feel to it. The images were sharp and detailed, with good colour reproduction. The satin finish did reduce some of the vibrancy of the images, but I think these are a much nicer product that cheap glossy cards from other manufacturers. On the text side of the card, the Foot Lambert logo appeared sharp, as did the text for my contact details. I was surprised at how easily they could be read, despite the small font size. I was very pleased with the quality of these fantastic cards.

Stickers

Each stickerbook contains 90 square stickers, each around 2cm x 2cm. They have rounded corners, and come in a little cardboard book. Again, the quality of these was excellent, with my logo appearing sharp. The gloss finish adds a touch of class to the stickers, and as with all Moo products various designs can be applied if you wish.

Moo ShowCase holder

This product is essentially a business card holder, but has an additional interesting feature. The top of the holder can open, so that you can simply push out a business card into the hand of the recipient. Alternatively, the holder can be splayed out in a fan shape, with 3 separate compartments so that the recipient has a choice of different designs to choose from.

The ShowCase holder spreads out like a fan, allowing your recipient to pick their own card with ease.

I thought this was a really cool feature, creating a bit of theatre to giving out business cards. Although the holder only holds around 15 cards, this should be more than enough for any trip out where you may want to give out cards to people interested in your work. The case is made out of tough white plastic, which should be more than strong enough to withstand a drop on the floor.

Summing up a great set of products

Moo has provided a unique, customisable products for individuals to promote their own brand and work with. I was really impressed with the quality of the print, packaging and service from Moo, and would highly recommend them.

In some ways, Moo’s cards are so good, you may actually not want to give them out, so I would suggest having a strategy for decided what product you should give to which person. I would use Minicards for general use, the Business Cards for potential clients, and stickers or labels when sending out products to people.

If there is any criticism, it is that the cards are quite expensive for the number you get – however, few other places offer such a comprehensive service, where you can easily have individual designs for each card.

Great products for promoting your creative work: 9/10
